This topic describes how to apply Fast scaling using the UI. To enable and configure regular draining using YAML, see Apply Fast scaling with YAML.
You apply Fast scaling to a workload using the Fast scaling tab (“tab”) of the workload recommendation drawer (“drawer”).
To see the drawer, click anywhere in the workload row in the Clusters > Workloads tab.
Configure draining mechanism
After you’ve applied Fast scaling to a workload, you can change the draining mechanism from accelerated (default) to regular using YAML. For more information about the draining mechanisms, see Node draining mechanisms.
Fast scaling tab
The following figure illustrates the Fast scaling tab of the drawer:

The tab shows the current node boot time versus the optimized boot time after Fast scaling is active.
Prerequisites:
The Compute agent is installed in the cluster.
For more information, see Install Kubernetes resource optimization components.
If you attempt to apply Fast scaling before the Compute agent is installed, you’ll see a message showing how you can install it directly from the drawer.
To apply Fast scaling to a workload from the UI:
From the Clusters > Workloads tab, click anywhere in the row of a workload.
Tip
You can filter to see only the workloads with recommendations by turning on Recommendations only.
The workload recommendation drawer is displayed.
Select the Fast scaling tab.
Turn on the protection.
Click Apply to workload, then confirm.
The drawer closes and the Workloads tab shows a message that the solution is being applied.
The UI will show changes within 2 hours after applying.
While Fast scaling is being applied, a clock icon is displayed next to the solution name in the Active solution field.
Remove Fast scaling from a workload
After Fast scaling is active on a workload, you can remove the protection. Removal takes effect within 1 hour.
To remove Fast scaling from a workload:
From the Clusters > Workloads tab, find the workload and click anywhere in its row.
The workload tab is displayed in the drawer.Turn the protection off.
Click Apply to workload, then confirm.
A confirmation message is displayed.
