# Automate Zesty Disk backup with AWS tools

This section describes how to automate the backing up of EBS volumes in a Zesty Disk filesystem using the following AWS tools:

- **AWS Backup**: to manage and monitor backups across the AWS services you use, including EBS volumes, from a single place
- **Amazon Data Lifecycle Manager**: to automate the creation, retention, and deletion of EBS snapshots

Using the AWS tools enables you to benefit from Zesty Disk while also leveraging AWS's core security and data protection abilities to mitigate any risk of data loss.
