Commitment Manager shows the following tabs: - [**Dashboard**](/v1/docs/see-commitment-manager-savings#dashboard): data related to savings achieved by covering On-Demand costs with commitments - **Compute Explorer**: data about Compute costs - [**Projected plan**](/v1/docs/commitment-manager-details#savings-plans-management): data about historical and future coverage and commitments (for users with automation using micro-commitments) - [**Virtual Machines**](/v1/docs/see-commitment-manager-savings#virtual-machines): data about the running VMs as well as current commitments (for Azure environments only) **Prerequisites** - Cloud provider is integrated with the Zesty platform - For AWS EKS, see [Onboard an AWS account with Zesty](/v1/docs/integrate-aws-account-with-zesty) - For Azure AKS, see [Onboard Azure for Zesty Commitment Manager](/v1/docs/onboard-azure-for-zesty-commitment-manager) - Access to the Zesty platform If you have questions or need additional help, reach out to [Customer Support](https://zesty.co/contact-us/?support). - Subscription to Commitment Manager **To show actual savings**: - From the Zesty platform main menu, select **Commitment Manager**. Savings are shown in the Commitment Manager dashboard: ![](https://cdn.document360.io/0eb80240-664b-49f5-9181-5713ddf9f725/Images/Documentation/k8s_cm_dashboard_0826(2).png) ## Dashboard On the **Dashboard** tab, you can see KPI and graph data related to savings achieved by covering On-Demand costs with commitments. #### KPIs The Commitment Manager KPIs show the following: - **All-time savings**: total savings delivered since Commitment Manager began managing your commitments - **Savings (last 30 days)**: savings delivered over the past 30 days - **Current coverage**: percentage of eligible usage currently covered by commitments - **Last 90 days actions**: number of actions performed by commitment optimization automation over the past 90 days #### Graphs By default, all the data shown is from the last 30 days. You can select a different date range which will apply to all the charts. **Tip**: When you hover displayed data, more detail is shown. > [!NOTE] > Data delivery information > > - Due to AWS CUR delays, data that includes a previous month will be final only [after the 7th of the current month](https://docs.aws.amazon.com/cur/latest/userguide/what-is-cur.html#cur-timeline), and the last 48 hours of data are not included in any data shown. > - For Azure, data is updated every 24 hours based on Azure data availability. The graphs show the following data: | Graph | Description | Graph options | | --- | --- | --- | | **Cost over time** | - **Total On-Demand cost**: This is the calculated compute cost if no workloads were covered by commitments (all at the On-Demand cost). - **Effective compute cost**: This is the actual spend (should match your CSP bill). - **Savings**: This is the total saved by covering workloads with commitments, both those that Zesty manages and those that are self-managed. For the breakdown of the source of the savings, see the Coverage type breakdown graph. | You can alternate the view between a bar chart and a line chart and also aggregate the data by day, week, or month. | | **Coverage over time** | Shows the daily average of compute workloads covered by commitments. You can see the data based on a 30-day steady state of usage (stable, ongoing demand, without noise from short-term peaks) or based on total usage (including temporary demand fluctuations). | | | **Coverage type breakdown** | Shows the On-Demand equivalent cost that is covered or not covered. | You can select which commitments to view as well as to alternate the view between a bar chart and a line chart. | | **Savings Plans utilization** (Azure only) | Shows the used Savings Plans and total Savings Plans. A difference indicates unused Savings Plans. | | | **Average coverage ratio** (AWS only) | Shows the ratio of commitments (out of all the current usage, not the steady state) that is covered, as well as the share of the commitments that are responsible for the coverage. | | | **Platform cost breakdown** (AWS only) | Shows the costs incurred per platform/OS. | | | **Savings breakdown** (AWS only) | Shows from where savings are derived: Customer (self-managed) savings and Managed (Zesty-managed) savings | | ## Virtual Machines On the **Virtual Machines** tab, you can see details about the running VMs as well as current commitments (RI and SP). This tab is relevant only for Azure environments. You can see details about the running virtual machines in the Virtual machine table. The table shows the monthly cost and coverage, together with details about the running VMs. **To see virtual machine details**: - From the **Commitment Manager** page, click **Virtual Machines**. The Virtual machines table is displayed. By default, the table is grouped by subscription. To see the details grouped by resource group, region, or family size, click that grouping option. A **+** after a value indicates that the item includes additional values in that column (for example, multiple resource groups, regions, or family sizes): ![](https://cdn.document360.io/0eb80240-664b-49f5-9181-5713ddf9f725/Images/Documentation/image(36).png) ### Commitment details You can see details about all current commitments, both SP purchased by Zesty and SP or RI that were self-purchased, in the Commitments table. One of the details shown is the commitment scope. Zesty-purchased commitments use *shared* scope, so they can be applied across eligible subscriptions. In the **End date** column, the ![](https://cdn.document360.io/0eb80240-664b-49f5-9181-5713ddf9f725/Images/Documentation/base64-converted-image-1784122911659.png) icon indicates that the commitment is ending within the next 30 days. **To see commitment details**: - From the **Virtual Machines** tab, click **View commitments**. The Commitments table is displayed. ## Projected plan The **Projected plan tab** shows detailed data about coverage and commitments, not only historical, but also future. With this information, you can project your plans and flexibility ahead of time and determine how the plan fits into your coverage and commitment needs. By using micro-commitments, Zesty is able to provide coverage at the least cost and greatest flexibility. ![](https://cdn.document360.io/0eb80240-664b-49f5-9181-5713ddf9f725/Images/Documentation/cm_projected_plan_hovers.png) The Projected plan tab is displayed only for Commitment Management users with automation using micro-commitment. For other users, refer to the [Dashboard](/v1/docs/see-commitment-manager-savings#dashboard) tab. Zesty plans your future commitments based on your needs, expressed as the following: - **Target coverage**: percentage of steady-state usage to cover with commitments - **YoY growth**: projected year-over-year change in usage - **3y target**: Percentage of total commitments planned for 3-year terms - **SP target over CRI**: Percentage of total commitments planned for Savings Plans rather than CRIs These needs guide the entire commitment process, so they are displayed at the top of the Projected plan tab. On the Projected plan tab, you can see the following: - **Projected savings**: the cost saved by Zesty purchasing micro-commitments (instead of On-Demand) for the next 30 days. This figure is updated once a day. - **Steady state vs. coverage**: the graph shows the historical and future coverage. - Zesty calculates your future steady state (dark blue, dashed line) together with expected growth, then plots the goal of your target coverage (green, dashed line). - The graph shows the On-Demand cost being covered by each form of commitment. - As you hover over the graph, you can see the estimated OD cost that commitments will cover. - **Coverage blend over time by term**: shows how the blend of 1-year and 3-year term commitments matches your “Share” goal over time. - For best cost, Zesty maximizes the purchase of 3-year term commitments while retaining your desired blend. As you hover over the graph, you can see the estimated effective cost for all the parts of the coverage. - For the first two years of a 3-year commitment, the graph shows their cost as 3 Years (green line). When they enter their final year, the graph shows their cost under 3 Years (Final year) (light blue line). - During this final year, when they benefit from both the low cost of a 3-year as well as the flexibility of a 1-year commitment, their “Share” cost is shown as part of the 1-year term. - **Estimated flexibility**: shows the amount of flexibility in terms of EC2 drop tolerance. This enables you to plan for future shutdown/sunset with minimum underutilization of current commitment. As commitments are reduced, the flexibility increases.
