I already have Reserved Instances or Savings Plans that are not going to expire soon. Can Zesty still provide significant savings?
Zesty can still provide savings to you in the interim on any workloads that aren’t covered by the existing commitments. Zesty would then maximize savings once your existing commitments expire. The scope of these interim savings would depend greatly ...
Are there any limitations on the types of EC2 instances that can be covered?
There are no limitations that exist on the types of instances and regions that can be covered. Zesty can cover every on-demand compute workload by using a blend of AWS discount plans.
What permissions are required to see Potential Savings?
In order to connect to the Zesty Dashboard for a Potential Savings Report, an IAM role will need to be created. At this stage, Zesty requires read-only permissions for metadata associated with your EC2 usage. This includes lists of running EC2 inst...

Why don’t the potential savings for the next 30 days match the projection for the next 12 months?
As seen below, the projected savings for the next 30 days do not appear to be mathematically in line with the 12 month projection. This is because in addition to looking at your currently uncovered workloads, Zesty’s algorithm also assesses any comm...
Can we use Zesty if we have an SCP in place?
In most situations, Zesty products can work if you have an SCP in place. Because of the number of different ways in which Service Control Policies can be set up and configured, we would need to review the specific policies implemented on your infra...
What is root user access and is it required?
When creating an AWS account, you begin with a single identity which has complete access to all AWS services and resources across the account. This includes a small number of functions not granted to any other user ID in the organization, even those...
Why is root user access needed for onboarding?
AWS requires root user access to amend or create bank details, which is a necessary part of registering to the RI Marketplace. Without this registration, Zesty is unable to buy or sell Reserved Instances on your behalf to cover your workloads. Plea...
Description of the permissions required to generate a Potential Savings report
In order to assess your workloads and provide a Potential Savings Report, Zesty requires that an IAM Role be created and attached to your AWS account. This role consists of read-only permissions of metadata only and does not allow Zesty to take an...
Do I need to commit for a set period of time?
You do not need to commit upfront to a specific period of time when signing a contract with Zesty for Commitment Manager, however we do require 30 days written notice prior to cancellation.
What services are supported?
As of now, Commitment Manager supports AWS EC2 as well as EKS and ECS, provided that they are backed by EC2 instances. We also offer a separate solution for AWS EBS and Azure Managed Disks and Insights, Zesty Disk.
How is the RI Marketplace different from the AWS Marketplace?
The Reserved Instance Marketplace is, practically speaking, much like the stock exchange. The only difference is that instead of trading stocks, the RI Marketplace trades in second-hand Reserved Instances. What this means is that if you have ov...
Does signing up for a Potential Savings report obligate me to Zesty in any way?
No. The Potential Savings Report is a service which Zesty offers for free. If you do not wish to continue moving forward to activation, you can simply disconnect from the dashboard by deleting the IAM role in your AWS Management Console and opening...
How long will it take to see the full savings potential?
Typically the ramping period to maximum coverage for new customers is about four weeks from the date of activation, although this can vary by a few weeks depending on the size and complexity of the infrastructure being covered. Your CSM will be abl...
How soon can I expect to start seeing savings?
You will be able to start seeing savings through the Zesty dashboard as soon as your account is activated. Initial RI purchases are made incrementally to gradually cover more and more of your eligible workloads until maximum coverage and maximum sa...
Why do I see a large number of small RI purchases being made?
Our algorithm takes a granular approach to covering your usage. Rather than purchasing a small number of large commitments, we buy many smaller ones so that if your compute workloads decrease at any time, we can sell off a number of these smaller ...
Why does Zesty require 30 days notice of significant architectural changes?

Do you cover Kubernetes or container workloads?
We can. Zesty has no insight into what our customers are doing with their instances. We only receive the usage metadata on running instances that is necessary for determining how best to cover them with commitments. Provided that your container wo...
What kind of savings is Zesty able to provide?
Typically we can save you about 50% on your EC2 spend. Please note that this number can also be higher, but it depends a great deal on a wide range of factors including OS, region, instance types being used and existing commitments. To gain a better...
