This topic describes how to install the Zesty Disk Agent (“Agent”) on a standalone instance.
Installing the Agent installs some files on the instance and enables the management of the Zesty Disk filesystem.
The Agent only needs to be installed once per instance, regardless of how many Zesty Disk filesystems it manages.
Before installing the Agent, you can see unmanaged filesystems in the platform Unmanaged Volumes tab. After the Agent is installed, you will see these filesystems in the Managed Filesystems tab.
The following points are operating system-specific:
On Linux instances, the Zesty Disk command line, zestyctl, is included in the Agent installation. (On Windows, zestyctl is not used.)
On RHEL and Rocky instances, some Agent installations will require restarting the instance. If that is necessary, a message will be displayed after installing.
(Optional) On Linux instances, before installing the Agent, you can verify instance compatibility by running the script described in Verify instance compatibility.
Prerequisites
Access to the Zesty platform
Root (or admin) access to the instance with a clean, secondary volume that meets the volume and network settings described in System requirements
The instance meets the requirements in System requirements.
To install the Zesty Disk Agent:
From the Zesty platform main menu, select Zesty Disk.
From the Managed filesystems tab, click Install Agent.
Expand the section of the desired operating system.
There are two commands displayed. This procedure is only relevant to the first command, installing installs the Agent.Install the Agent:
For Linux, follow these steps:

Copy the first command and run it on the prepared instance.
The Agent installation begins.

For Windows, follow these steps:
Select to see commands for PowerShell or for AWS User Data.
Obtain remote access to the instance.

After the Agent is installed, you can see the mount points from the clean volume in the Managed Filesystems tab.
You may need to click Reload to see them.
Those mount points cannot yet be managed.
After you have integrated your AWS account with Zesty and installed the Agent, you are ready to deploy Zesty Disk!
