Article summary

This topic describes how to run EZswitch on a Windows instance.

Prerequisites

  • Remote access and permissions to run PowerShell commands on the instance

  • The volume with data has been tagged (recommended to do this before running EZswitch on it):

    • Tag key: ZestyDisk

    • Tag value: True

  • The Zesty Disk Agent is running on the instance

In the following procedure, we’ll use this beginning filesystem:

To run EZswitch:

  1. Connect to the instance.

  2. Run EZswitch on the disk:

    C:\zesty\collector\zmount.exe -driveLetter <DRIVE_LETTER> -EZswitch

<DRIVE_LETTER> is an uppercase letter that is available to assign to the drive. This can be the same as the current drive letter.

    Note that commands are case-sensitive.

When the process succeeds, a message, similar to the following is displayed:

    EZswitch on D completed successfully.
The following figure shows that the filesystem is now a Zesty Disk filesystem:

If the volume needs to expand, for example, to account for the default buffer, it will automatically expand to 128 GB, as follows:

The unallocated capacity will become part of the same D: volume.
