Deploy Kompass Compute

Prev Next

This section describes how to deploy Kompass to enable the Insights, Spot management, and Headroom reduction solutions in your K8s environment.

To deploy the Storage Autoscaling solution, see Deploy Storage Autoscaling.

Before you begin, ensure that your AWS account is integrated with Zesty. For more information, see Integrate and onboard an AWS account with Zesty.

After integrating your account, deploying Kompass is a 2-step process:

  1. Enable visibility with the Kompass Insights agent

When the Insights agent is installed, Kompass shows K8s cluster and workload insights: costs, scaling performance, workload usage, and pattern history. In addition, Kompass can make recommendations for your environment.

After the Insights agent is installed, Kompass insights and recommendations are displayed immediately. For more meaningful data, the Insights agent needs to collect data for 7+ days.

To install the Insights agent in the cluster, see Install the Kompass Insights agent.

  2. Enable automation with the Kompass Compute agent

The Compute agent enables HiberScale, the power behind the Spot management and Headroom reduction solutions.

The Insights agent must be installed in the cluster before installing the Compute agent.

The Compute agent is installed using the qubexctl utility.

To install the Compute agent in the cluster, see Install the Kompass Compute agent.

The Kompass agents are installed in each cluster that you want to optimize.
