  • PDF

Article summary

This section describes how to create a new (or edit an existing) Auto Extend policy. When you create a new policy, it will not be applied until you apply it. Applying an exiting policy is described in Apply an existing Auto Extend policy to a filesystem.

Prerequisites

  • Login access to the Zesty platform

To create an Auto Extend policy:

  1. From the Zesty platform, select Zesty Disk.

  2. Select the Policies tab, then click Create.
The Create policy dialog is displayed.

  3. Select Storage AutoExtend.

  4. Enter a name for the new policy.

  5. Configure the policy:

    1. To configure a maximum disk size, beyond which Zesty will not extend, select Set maximum size and enter a maximum size (in GB).

    2. Select a preferred policy type, Simple or Advanced.

      1. For a Simple policy, define the Threshold and Configuration.

      2. For an Advanced policy define the Comfort zone, Risk zone, Start, and End.
The value of End should be Infinity only for the last tier. To create initial tiers, click + and enter a numeric size in End.

    3. Review the policy simulation.

  6. Click Create.

The new policy is created.

To apply the policy to a filesystem, see Apply an existing Auto Extend policy to a filesystem.

To edit an existing Auto Extend policy:

  1. From the Zesty platform, select Zesty Disk.

  2. Select the Policies tab.

  3. Locate the policy you want to edit, hover over its Action column, and select Edit.

  4. Edit the policy, then click Update.

The policy is updated.

The new parameters will be used wherever this policy was applied in the past or will be applied in the future.
