Deploy Kompass Compute

Prev Next

This section describes how to deploy Kompass to enable the Insights, Headroom reduction, Pod rightsizing, and Spot management solutions in your K8s environment.

To deploy the Storage Autoscaling solution, see Deploy Storage Autoscaling.

Before you begin, ensure that your AWS account is integrated with Zesty. For more information, see Integrate and onboard an AWS account with Zesty.

Deploying Kompass is a 2-step process:

  1. Enable visibility - install the Kompass Insights agent

The Kompass Insights agent gathers cluster data and shows K8s cluster and workload insights: costs, scaling performance, workload usage, and pattern history.

When enough data is gathered (between 1 - 7 days), Kompass begins to make recommendations for your environment.

The Insights agent must be installed before other solution components are installed.

To install the Insights agent in the cluster, see Install the Kompass Insights agent.

  2. Install Kompass solution components:

    • For Headroom reduction and Spot management, install the Kompass Compute agent.

The Compute agent enables HiberScale, the power behind the Headroom reduction and Spot management optimization solutions. For more information, see HiberScale technology.

For maximum savings per cluster, the Compute agent is installed together with Zesty Professional services.

To schedule the  installation, contact Customer Support.

To see how the Compute agent is installed on a cluster, see Install the Kompass Compute agent.

    • For Pod rightsizing, enable Pod rightsizing.

When Pod rightsizing is enabled, you can apply the solution to workloads.

To enable Pod rightsizing, see Enable Pod rightsizing.

The Kompass components must be installed or enabled in each cluster that you want to optimize.
